Nicholas Boulevard Drainage
Trustee Tosto reviewed the available options to relieve the
drainage problem on Nicholas Boulevard. The options will be discussed
more fully at the January Committee of the Whole meeting.
Foreign Trade Zone
Charles Willis provided an update on progress in acquiring Foreign
Trade Zone status. Members considered possible options concerning
(1) size of zone (ranging from Elk Grove Village to Elk Grove Village
plus adjacent communities to the 12 mile radius around O'Hare airport);
(2) price paid to current license holder; (3) price paid to the Port
Authority, and (4) timing to acquire a designation.
Consensus and direction to George Knickerbocker was to attempt
to acquire Elk Grove Village and adjacent communities, and to attempt
to pay less than $25,000 to the Port Authority. Additionally, an
attempt should be made to acquire a more favorable fee split rate.
Scavenger Rates
Ed Evenhouse and Frank Van Dinther addressed the members with
respect to their request for an increase in single family residential
monthly scavenger rates from $7.53 to $8.00. Evenhouse explained
that the State will begin charging $0.45 tax per cubic yard and DuPage
County will begin charging $0.70 tax per cubic yard on January 1, 1987.
The two taxes increase the per home per month cost by $0.46. The rate
increase request is for $0.47, from $7.53 to $8.00 per month effective
January 1, and from $8.00 to $8.44 effective October 1.
