ORDINANCES
Trustee Petri reported that the Judiciary, Planning
and Zoning Committee (JPZ) had met twice recently and were
recommending the adoption of two crdiannces at the Village
Board meeting which would: 1) change the fees associated
with false alarms; and 2) enable the Police Department to
utilize wheel stops ("Denver Boots") on vehicles when the
owner has five (5) or more unpaid tickets during an 18-month
period.
Additionally, the JPZ reviewed the junk peddler ordinance
and recommended that it not be applied to the industrial
park as those businesses in the industrial park contract
to purchase materials (scrap metal, pallets) that will be
recycled. Consensus agreed.
NES7MM UNION FRANCHISE AGREEMENT
Members agreed that the Attorney should review and
analyze the proposed Western Union franchise agreement and
advise the Village Board.
FOREIGN TRADE ZONE
A status update on progress toward a Foreign Trade
Zone was requested of the Village Manager. His response
was that the project was in the hands of a potential developer
and that there had been no activity since Janaury.
SIGNAGE ORDINANCE
The Village Attorney distributed an ordinance which
would revise permitted signage in business districts. Trustee
Petri requested that the ordinance receive a first reading
only at the Village Board meeting pending further review
and discussion.
