SOBSIDIZSD TAXICABPROGRAM
Randy Moss and Ron Hess of American Taxi Co. presented
their proposal for a meter-based subsidized taxicab program.
The current program allows the eligible user to take a taxicab
ride anywhere in the Village for $2.00, with the Village paying
$1.50 and the user paying $0.50. The proposal made by American
Taxicab would utilize the metered fare, subtract a discount
of 20%, subtract the $1.50 subsidy from the Village, and the
remaining amount would be paid by the user.
Members asked questions about how the program works
elsewhere and indicated concerns about varying fares, the
discounted fare chart, and additional costs. Staff was directed
to contact Mount Prospect which is also considering the proposal
and to contact the other taxicab firm in Elk Grove Village,
the Elk Grove Taxicab Co.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:02 p.m. to go to the Village _
Board meeting.
