Community Impact Study of the Elderly Population of Elk Grove Village
The Elk Grove Village Board of Health has had concerns about the elderly
population within the Village and how it will impact on the Village now
and in the future. Their concerns prompted the need for a community
impact study which would determine the current services available to
senior citizens, the needs of the elderly, as well as the gaps which
exist within the community.
Richard Sewell explained what would be included in the study and how
long it would take to complete. He will be looking for indicators in
the available data which would give the information needed for the
current and future needs of the elderly.
Mr. Willis asked how much staff support would be needed for the study
and Mr. Sewell assured him it would be minimal and would only include
gathering information on current services available to the seniors.

The trustees asked about Mr. Sewell's role in proposing solutions to
problems and needs as indicated by the study. Pat McHale said the
Board of Health would review the study and come up with solutions and
proposals to the problems that exist.
Mr. Zettek said if the study goes a little over the $2,500 currently
allocated that this would be covered by the Village. The main thrust
is to get a complete and meaningful study.
The trustees were in agreement that the Impact Study should be pursued.
