TURNER AVENUE
The Assistant Village Manager referred to his May 31 , 1988
memorandum outlining the possible sale of Village owned land on
Turner Avenue. There were no objections to the recommended series of
steps.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS ROAD/NORTHWEST TOLLWAY
Members briefly discussed their concern about pedestrian and
cyclist traffic at the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Higgins
Road. Consensus was to direct staff to prepare a letter acknowledging
that no median will exist that close to the crosswalk, acknowledge the
Village' s concern and seek IDOT' s review of the matter.
SBL RECAPTURE AGREEMENT
The Assistant Village Manager notified the members that an
extension of the SBL recapture agreement was being sought. The recapture
agreement expired in 1985. The annexation agreement has been extended
until May 6, 1990. A similar extension for the recapture agreement is
being requested. It would impact only the Zirko farm property (owned
by ABMC) . Further discussion was scheduled for June 21 , 1988.
GARDEN CITY - REFUSE COLLECTION FRANCHISE
Garden City has requested permission to increase the monthly cost
of refuse collection covered by the franchise by $0. 18 to cover the cost
of a new DuPage County tax. This would raise the cost to $8.62 per
month, or $25.86 per quarter. Members agreed and directed staff to:
1 ) obtain and analyze the tax calculations; and 2) ask Garden City
representatives to address recycling at the June 21 , 1988 Committee
of the Whole meeting.
