HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE - 01/24/1989 - COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING January 24, 1989 Elk Grove Village Members Present: Charles Zettek, Village President Michael Tosto, Village Trustee Edward Hauser, Village Trustee James Petri, Village Trustee Ronald Chernick, Village Trustee Joseph Bosslet, village Trustee Dennis Gallitano, Village Trustee (7:35 p.m. ) MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Charles Willis, Village Manager Gary Parrin, Assistant Village Manager Julie CariuS, Administrative Assistant James Mac Arthur, Fire Chief Thomas Cech, Director of Public Works Richard Olson, Personnel Officer George Knickerbocker, Village Attorney NORTHWEST MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST The Village Manager announced that the NWMC Legislative Breakfast would be held on Saturday, February 11, 1989. SIGNAGE ON BIESTERFIELD ROAD AND GIBSON DRIVE Members directed Staff to check a loose sign at Biesterfield Road and Gibson Drive. REORGANIZATION OF PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT The Director of Public Works discussed the status of the reorganization plans for the Public Works Department. Interviews will be taking place for the Superintendent and Foreman positions. NEWSLETTER COMMENTS Members reviewed the proposed articles for inclusion in the winter issue of the VILLAGER newsletter. PARKING REGULATIONS ON NICHOLAS BOULEVARD Members discussed the 1-20-89 memorandum from the Chief of Police recommending that the parking restrictions along Nicholas Boulevard not be lifted. Consensus was to continue to prohibit parking on Nicholas Boulevard. LIBRARY PROCEEDINGS Members reviewed and discussed the Certification of Proceedings for the new library facility. Members agreed that the document needed corrections, and should only be approved subject to the incorporation of the changes suggested by the Village Manager. The changes referred to inserting 'preliminary' before 'plan'. 244 PLACID COURT Members discussed the need to determine whether an automobile repair business is being conducted at 244 Placid Court, thus necessitating the need for the variation request.
