HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE - 07/11/1989 - COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING July 11, 1989 Elk Grove Village 7 p.m. Members Present: Charles Zettek, Village President Michael Tosto, Village Trustee Edward Hauser, Village Trustee James Petri, Village Trustee RECEIVED Ronald Chernick, Village Trustee Joseph Bosslet, Village Trustee JUL 4 1989 Dennis Gallitano, Village Trustee Members Absent: None VILLAGE CLEW OFFICE Staff Present: Charles Willis, Village Manager Julie Strahl, Administrative Assistant George Knickerbocker, Village Attorney (7:55 p.m. ) UNITED WAY Members reviewed a recommendation from staff to deny a request from Community Service asking that a 7-Zine message be placed on water bills asking residents to support United Way. Consensus was to place a one (1) line statement on the water bills which reads "Support United Way. " FOREIGN TRADE ZONE Members discussed the recent establishment of a Foreign Trade Zone at Devon Avenue and Route 83 in Elk Grove Village. PACE The Village President reported on a recent meeting with a representative from PACE regarding the possibility of establishing a bus system in the Village. Members expressed concern over the need to acquire buses that are accessible to senior citizens and handicapped individuals. MEETING AT AL HATTENDORF CENTER The Village President reminded members of the special meeting called by Rev. Roger Schindel to discuss problems of transportation for senior citizens in Elk Grove Village. The meeting will be held Wednesday, July 12, 1989 at 9 a.m. at the Al Hattendorf Center. OLD LIBRARY BUILDING The Village President indicated that Alexian Brothers Medical Center has expressed an interest in using the old library facility for an adult care center. CBS-WBBM TOWER Members reviewed a request sent to Congressman Hyde asking him to author a letter on his stationery which discusses the permit applica- tion sent to the FCC by CBS regarding the proposed WBBM radio tower facility in Roselle. cow 7/11/89 -2- NHRTING WITH PARR DISTRICT The Park District has suggested that a meeting date be set in August. VACANT PROPERTIES The Village President updated members regarding on-going efforts to stimulate interest in various vacant properties throughout the Village. FLOODPROOFING OLD LIBRARY FACILITY A concern was raised by members regarding how fill would be kept from infringing on the floodplain around the library site. The Chairman of the Capital Improvements Committee indicated that all plans will be reviewed by Village staff and the Illinois Department of Water Resources. It was noted that the area will be staked within the next two weeks. PARKING AUWG LBICRSTER AT LBISURR FITNESS CENTER Residents in favor of posting "No Parking" signs along Leicester will not be attending the 7-11-89 meeting, but will be in attendance at the 7-25-89 Village Board meeting to discuss the issue. The Village Manager called attention to a survey and report prepared by the Police Department which reviews on street parking along Leicester from Biesterfield Road to Yarmouth Lane. c: President S Board of Trustees Village Clerk Village Manager Assistant Village Manager Administrative Assistant All Department Heads as
