ELK SCULPTURE
Sculptor, Franz Volz presented a clay rendering of an elk. Volz
recommended that the elk be white in color, 6-7 ft. high and secured on a
concrete base.
Members expressed concern regarding vandalism.
Several members also questioned the color of the elk. Volz
indicated that the color of the elk could be changed if members decided
that white was not appropriate.
Consensus was to commission Fran Volz to prepare a sculpture
of an elk to be placed outside the Village Hall facing Biesterfield
Road, between the Police Department and new addition, at a cost not
to exceed $5,000.
REGIONAL TASK FORCE ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE
The Village President discussed a recommendation from High
School District 214 to form a regional task force and subsequent consortium
to address the drug abuse and alcohol problem facing this country.
The Village President, Village Manager, and Police Chief
recently met with representatives from District 214 at Alexian Brothers
Medical Center to discuss the program. It was suggested at the meeting
that an elected official volunteer to serve on the Board and begin by
attending the first two sessions on August 2nd and 3rd.
Members questioned whether this task force/consortium would
request funding. Staff indicated that the task force would be looking
for non-cash support services (typing, copying, etc. )
Following a brief discussion, Trustee Hauser volunteered to be
a representative, indicating that he would contact the Village President
to confirm whether or not he could attend both introductory sessions.
COMPENSATION OF SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL
The Village President recommended that the Village retain the
services of an accounting firm to review our current compensation plan
for supervisory personnel and prepare recommendations of how it can be
improved upon.
