HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE - 08/08/1989 - COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING August 8, 1989 Elk Grove Village 7 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Charles Zettek, Village President Michael Tosto, Village Trustee Edward Hauser, Village Trustee James Petri , Village Trustee Ronald Chernick, Village Trustee Dennis Gallitano, Village Trustee MEMBERS ABSENT: Joseph Bosslet, Village Trustee STAFF PRESENT: Julie Strahl , Administrative Assistant George Knickerbocker, Village Attorney (7:40 p.m.) Charles Willis, Village Manager (7: 50 p.m. ) EXCEPTIONAL COMMUNITY VIDEO Ian Gray is preparing a recommendation as to what firm should be retained to update the video. CHEMICAL LAWN SPRAYING Members reviewed the status of several attempts by municipalities to regulate chemical lawn spraying as well as similar legislation waiting to be signed by Governor Thompson. MEETING WITH PARK DISTRICT The meeting between the Village Board and Park District Board will be held Monday, August 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Park District Administration Building. SKATEBOARDING On several occasions members have noticed skateboarders at the Grove Mall parking lot near the Citgo gas station. ROLLING MEADOWS TRANSFER STATION Members briefly discussed the status and the redevelopment of the transfer station in Rolling Meadows. The Village President referred to a letter he wrote to Rolling Meadows urging them to approve the revised proposal which would allow the redevelopment of an existing transfer station which would accommodate six (6) municipalities. The original proposal would have included 14 municipalities (including Elk Grove Village) but was turned down by the Rolling Meadows City Council on 7-26-89. The scaled down version of the proposal was to be considered on 8-8-89. VACANT PROPERTIES Members noted the Village's continued efforts to encourage development at various vacant parcels throughout the Village. PURCHASE OF CELLULAR PHONES - POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS Members posed several questions regarding the purchase of additional cellular phones in the Fire and Police Departmenmts. INCREASED INCOME TAX REVENUES Members expressed the need to schedule a meeting to discuss how the Village should use the additional income tax revenues. c: President and Board of Trustees Village Clerk Village Manager Assistant Village Manager Administrative Assistant Village Attorney All Department Heads
