EXPOSITION c9mr"
The Chairman and two members of the Schaumburg Metropolitan
Exposition Auditorium and Office Building Authority met with the
Committee.
A video program was presented to the Committee. The video
cited that a market demand for a convention center exists in the
area and that Elk Grove Village could expect $534,880 in additional,
outside tax dollars from the proposed center. in order to acquire
the additional $14 to $20 million that is needed to build and
operate the Center, a 2% Hotel/Motel Occupational Tax is being
requested from surrounding communities. Those tax dollars would
be dedicated solely to the convention center.
In addition, the Exposition Authority members presented
three alternatives for creating a Board of Directors which would
allow for the representation of the various municipalities that
are contributing tax dollars to the center.
This meeting was of an informational gathering nature.
A formal meeting will be scheduled in the future.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
