Mayor Johnson reported that Mike Hinko has resigned as the Channel 6 Station Manager
effective April 5. Moreover, the Park District desires to utilize the capital funding
accumulated by the Village specifically for Channel 6 purposes to fund an operating
deficit at the Park District.
The Mayor had told Tom Cooke that Village staff have come up with ways to reduce
costs and stay within the budget.
The consensus of the Village Board was for the Village to explore the takeover of
Channel 6 if the Park District gives it up. In addition, Village Channel 6 funds held by
the Park District can be utilized for no other purpose. The Village will prepare to litigate
the issue if necessary.
The Mayor will advise the Park District:
No additional funding from Elk Grove Village for Channel 6
• The Capital Replacement Funds stay with Channel 6, as does all equipment.
