Russis, CHICAGO TRIBUNE (7:10 p.m. ) INCREASE MEMBERSHIP ON BOARD OF HEALTH The consensus of the Committee was for staff to prepare an ordinance increasing the membership of the Board of Health by one, from seven to eight. The ordinance is to be placed on the next VB Agenda. In addition, there was no objection to appointing Dr. Charles Boyajian to fill the new position on the Board of Health. CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER The Assistant Village Manager noted that a report on this topic is being prepared by the Police Department . The consensus of the Committee was to discuss this item at a future date. UNITED FOR DESERT SUPPORT President Zettek reported that the final tribute will be held at the Elk Grove Library on Sunday, September 29, at 1 :30 p.m. . . .please continue SIGNAGE AT 670 Oakton Staff is to poll the homeowners living across the street from where the proposed sign is to be located and ascertain whether the residents would prefer a wall sign or a monument sign. 35TH ANNIVERSARY BROCHURE The consensus of the Committee was to proceed with the publication as submitted. PARKING STANDARDS TEXT AMENDMENT The Director of Engineering and Community Development summarized the changes proposed in the Parking Standards Text Amendment. The Village Attorney is preparing an ordinance to adopt the text amendment at the next Village Board meeting. SISTER CITIES PROGRAM The Village Clerk from the City of Des Plaines, the President of the Illinois Sister Cities Association, and the President of the Des Plaines Sister Cities Consortium gave a presentation to the Village Board on the Sister Cities Program. Should a community want to initiate a Sister City relationship, the speakers suggest forming a not-for-profit corporation, staffed by interested community members. A three-person organizing committee would take about two years to develop a functional program.
