Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly
scheduled meeting of the Village President and Board of Trustees on January 27, 1998 this
Executive Session was called to consider a Land Acauisition matter.

LAND ACQUISITION
The Village President brought the Village Board up-to-date on the status of the
Chicago Bears' inquiry into constructing a stadium in Elk Grove.
The Village President stated that the Bears were interested in constructing a 70,000
seat stadium for use approximately 10 times per year. It was estimated that a
stadium of that size would also require approximately 20,000 parking spaces.
Based on the stadium and parking requirements, the Bears had expressed concern
that the Northwest Point property was not sufficient for their needs. As such, they
were looking at the Busse Farm for the stadium and surrounding property for
parking purposes.
The Village President reiterated that the Bears do not want their activity disclosed
due to concerns that land prices will increase dramatically. In addition, there was
a possibility that the Bears may ask the Village to purchase the property, even
though his posture is that this should be a private financial endeavor.
The Village President stated that he will be meeting with representatives of the
Bears along with the Village Manager, Village Attorney and Director of Finance on
Thursday, February 5 and that the Village Board will be informed of the discussions
held at that meeting at a later date.
