Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly
scheduled meeting of the Village President and Board of Trustees on August 12. 1997 this
Executive Session was called to consider a PERSONNEL matter.

Personnel
The Village President requested that the Village Board review the draft
employee contract for the Village Attorney so that comments can be
addressed prior to the August 26, 1997 Village Board meeting. The
Village President stated that the draft contract had been prepared by
Lee Garr and had been reviewed by himself, the Village Manager and
the Village Attorney.
Upon further discussion, the consensus of the Village Board was to
amend the draft contract for approval on August 26, as follows:
• to insert the word "Board" in place of "Trustees" throughout the
entire contract;
• to amend Section 6 by limiting the Village Attorney salary to not
exceed that of the Village Manager in office, as of the date of
signing the agreement;
• to include language in Section 9B prohibiting the Village Attorney
from buying back sick leave days, and
• to make the contract effective September 1, 1997.
In addition, it was the consensus of the Village Board to develop a
written retainer understanding with Samelson & Payne, defining the
terms of the Village's retainer for their services.
The meeting adjourned at 11:55 p.m.
