Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly
scheduled meeting of the Village President and Board of Trustees on July 22.1997 this
Executive Session was called to consider a Personnel matter.

PERSONNEL
The Assistant Village Manager summarized the history regarding Police
Sergeant's pay for off-duty court appearances. Under the current policy, Police
Sergeant's were being paid less than Police Officers for off-duty court appearances in 2
instances. The average pay for Police Sergeant court appearances while off-duty in Elk
Grove's comparable communities was 3.75 hours straight time.
Upon further discussion, the consensus of the Village Board was to have the
policy amended to pay Police Sergeant's a$110.00 flat rate stipend for all court
appearances when off-duty. An ordinance making the change will be included on the
August 12, 1997 consent agenda.
