PROCHNO Village Trustee Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Village President and Board of Trustees on February 8. 2000, this Executive Session was called to consider a personnel matter. Number of pages attached: I Date(s) of review for release: January 2001 Date of approval for release: r 2/08/2000 6:40 p.m. Personnel Chief of Police/Police Staffing The Chief of Police brought the Village Board up-to-date on activities since taking office. Those activities include meeting with every officer, meeting with Fire and Police Commission, improving levels of service, and seeking FBI academy training in January 2000. The Chief discussed the need for a civilian"Assistant to the Chief'position. The position would handle administrative matters, allowing officers and supervisors more time on the streets. Several items included under the position include training coordination, policy review,budget tracking, inventory accounting, and similar items. After further deliberation, the consensus of the Village Board was as follows: 1. Ascertain additional information concerning Police Officer hiring requirements and what body has authority to determine those standards; and, 2. Create the"Assistant to the Police Chief'position. Staff will need to develop these items and place them on a future Village Board agenda. The meeting adjourned at 7:05 pm. lk
