Number of pages attached: 1 Date(s) of review for release: January 81996 Date of approval for release: 818195 8 :35 p.m. LITIGATION The Village Manager summarized the events of the meeting with Professor Anton Nelessen. He stated that Dr. Nelessen was very impressed with the layout of the governmental campus and had shared several ideas for the future development of the entire southwest corner of the Biesterfield/Arlington Heights Road intersection, including the Municipal Complex property. The Village President stated that the next step in the development process was to have Dr. Nelessen meet with the entire Village Board to conduct a "previsualization" session in order to create a goal for the redevelopment of the property. Prior to doing so, there will be a meeting with another land planner to review his concepts for the Grove Mall redevelopment as a comparison to Nelessen. The Village Attorney brought the Village Board up to date on the status of negotiations with the Grove Mall . The Village Attorney stated that he will not issue a statement of "no condemnation" until a conditional agreement has been reached for the redevelopment of the Citgo and Burger King in conjunction with the Village town square concept . The Village Attorney also stated that he is negotiating for the entire cost of the abatement of environmental concerns to be the responsibility of the Grove Mall . This cost may include asbestos removal . The Village Attorney recommended that the Village Board not proceed with the purchase of the property until these issues are resolved. In addition, the Village Attorney will discuss with Citgo their request for a replacement sign. A temporary sign approval was discussed since Citgo will be requested to have signs compatible with the redevelopment . The consensus of the Village Board was to concur with the recommendation of the Village Attorney. The meeting adjourned at 9 :15 p.m.
