LAND ACQUISITION
Triton Engineering Consultants reviewed
the recommendations for improving
Biesterfield Road from Martha to Elk Grove
Boulevard. If all of the improvements are
performed, rights-of-way would have to be
acquired at the following locations :
1 . The Northwest intersection of
Biesterfield and Arlington Heights Road
(McDonalds) ;
2 . The West side of Arlington Heights
Road, north of Biesterfield (Elk
Crossing Shopping Center) ;
3 . The Southwest intersection of
Biesterfield and Arlington Heights Road
(Gasoline Station) ;
4 . The Southeast intersection of Arlington
Heights Road, South of Biesterfield-
(rear yard of four residences) .
5. The Northeast intersection of Arlington
Heights Road, North of Biesterfield
(rear yard of three residences) .
6 . A section of property on the South
side of Biesterfield across from
Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
(Trustee Gallitano left the meeting at
8 : 10 p.m. )
The consensus of the Committee was as
follows :
1 . Include a full 500-foot right-hand turn
lane from Southbound Arlington Heights
Road to westbound Biesterfield in the
design;
2 . Include a traffic signal and new
entrance into Elk Crossing and the
Village Hall in the design;
. . . please continue
3 . Do not include right-hand turn lane
from Eastbound Biesterfield to
Southbound Arlington Heights Road;
however, leave this item under study.
4 . Consider reducing, in the Phase III
Design Study, the median area East of
Creighton to allow two 12-foot lanes in
each direction on Kennedy Boulevard.
5 . Install the median on Eastbound Elk
Grove Boulevard, West of Creighton as
designed to accommodate two left-hand
turn bays onto Southbound Arlington
Heights Road;
6 . Authorize staff to establish the public
hearing date for the Phase I and Phase
II FAUS design study;
6 . Staff is to meet with the property
owners who would be impacted by the
right-of-way acquisition; and
8 . Staff is to obtain price estimates for
new street lights on Biesterfield Road.
The meeting was adjourned at 9 : 35 p.m.
