Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a
regularly scheduled meeting of the Village President and Board of Trustees
on Nnypmhar 10. 1992 this Executive Session was called to consider a
personnel matter.

PERSONNEL
The Village Board discussed the following proposal as
outlined in a memo authored by the Village Manager.
1 . Retitle the Lieutenant title to Commander which
will become an exempt rank.
2 . Leave the Deputy Chief position vacant and create
an additional Commander position.
3 . Allow all Sergeants to apply for the newly created
Commander position. The Sergeants will be
reviewed for -the position through an assessment
center. The 'top candidates will be reviewed by the
Chief of Police who will make an appointment to the
Commander position subject to the approval of the
Village Manager.
The Village Manager noted that the current Lieutenants will
be appointed as Commanders. The Commander position will have the
same salary range as the Lieutenant position. The current
Lieutenants who are appointed to commander will receive the same
salary as they currently receive.
The consensus of the Village Board was to amend the Municipal
Code by ordinance to establish the aforementioned items. A
discussion with the Fire anti Police Commission is to take place
advising of this change before any formal Village Board action.
