HEALTH INSURANCE RENEWAL
The Committee discussed staff recommendations for the renewal of
health insurance policies. It was noted by the Personnel Officer that
the addition of the Senior Clerk in his office will add 1.4% to the
self-insured premium.
The consensus of the Committee was as follows for the self-insured
plan:
1. Renew the program with the addition of the Senior Clerk
costs in the premium;
2. Accept the "Affordable Care" Hospital Only PPO program
and offer employees incentives of no deductible or
co-payment on the hospital bill . The employee must
still meet deductible and co-payment provisions on all
doctor bills and bills from hospitals outside the PPO.
Both ABMC and Hoffman Estates Medical Center (formerly Humana
Hospital ) are in the "Affordable Care" PPO network. The
wholesale cost PPO option is expected to save the
Village a minimum of almost $100,000 per year. Additional
cost savings will be realized as more employees
attend the PPO hospitals. As a condition of joining
the PPO, the Village must offer incentives to induce
employees to their hospitals; and,
3. Staff is to prepare a memo outlining the Committee's findings.
The Committee will discuss these issues with the Village
Board on April 3.
The Consultants were excused from the meeting at 10:45 p.m.
The Consensus of the
follows: Committee regarding HMO renewals was as
r t i• Eliminate the Health Chicago HMO to receive the 2% discount
with HMO Illinois; and
2• Eliminate the Delta Dental HMO, but staff is to obtain costs
on the addition of a dental plan through the HMO Illinois
plan.
The meeting adjourned at 11:25 p.m,
