HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 01/14/2003 - c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON JANUARY 14, 2003 Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith, and Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, DDS. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Secretary Shapiro that the minutes of December 17, 2002 meeting be: approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Secretary Shapiro that the minutes of December 19, 2002 special meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1. Ottosen Trevarthen Britz Kelly & Cooper, Ltd. Invoice 24080 dated 1/03/03 in the amount of$1,200.00 for annual retainer fee for legal representation. 2. Daily Herald —Invoice #T2943590 dated 01/03/03 in the amount of$20.00 for publication of meeting date change. 3. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2733 dated 12/20/02 in the amount of$1,055.00 for multiple interview assessments for firefighter candidates. 4. Corporate Express—Invoice 38925904 dated 12/13/02 in the amount of$47.00 for print cartridges. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. RECEIVED EXECUTIVE SESSION (Closed session minutes recorded). Kelly accepting his proposal for legal representation. 2. Copy of memo to Village Clerk advising January meeting date change to the 10. 3. Copy of Firefighter Eligibility List dated 12/27/02. 4. Copy of sample letter sent to 26 firefighter candidates advising their placement on the eligibility list. 5. Copy of sample letter sent to candidates that did not pass the firefighter multiple group interview on 12/17/02. 6. Copy of sample letter sent to candidates that did not appear for their multiple group interview and were therefore eliminated from the process. 7. Copy of progress reports from Chief MacArthur regarding the performance of four probationary firefighters hired on February 11, 2002. 8. Copy of memo from Northwest Municipal Conference to Mayors regarding HB 1689. 9. Letter from Firefighter Candidate thanking the commissioners for their time during the group interview. 10. Copy of letters sent to Firefighter Candidates 1-8 on the eligibility list requesting completion of background information packet. PENDING Police Officer Hiring Process—three openings(not being replaced at this time). Firefighter Hiring Process—two openings (not being replaced at this time). NEW BUSINESS Secretary was instructed to forward letter to Human Resources advising to transfer these individuals from probationary status to permanent status. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned.
