HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 02/18/2003 - c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS R E C E I V E V OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON FEBRUARY 18, 2003 MAR 2 0 2003 VILLAGE CLERK'S OFFICE Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith, and Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, DDS. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Secretary Shapiro that the minutes of January 14, 2003 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2763 dated 02/03/03 in the amount of$500.00 for psychological evaluation ofpolice officer candidate. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION (Closed session minutes recorded). CORRESPONDENCE 1. Memo to Human Resources advising that four firefighters hired on 2/11/02 has satisfactorily completed their probationary period and may be transferred to permanent status. 2. Copy of congratulations letter to Deputy Chief on his promotion to the position of Fire Chief effective 2/17/03. 3. Copy of Written Reprimand issued to police offer for violating Section 26.1.1A, Rules of Conduct, Rule 29, Failure to Follow Medical Roll Procedures. 4. Copy of letter sent to Police Candidate that did not pass his psychological evaluation. 5. Note from Chief MacArthur regarding end of probationary period and permanent employee status for four firefighters. Memo from Deputy Fire Chief announcing the appointment of Fire Captain effective March 3, 2003, and requesting that the Fire and Police Commission appoint next eligible firefighter to the rank of Fire Lieutenant. 8. Congratulations letter to Fire Captain appointee. 9. Copy of appointment letter to new Fire Lieutenant. 10. Copy of proposed Settlement and General Release Agreement pursuant to Kevin Quinn, et a1. v. Elk Grove Village Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, et al. 11. Copy of letter from Chief MacArthur announcing his resignation effective February 17, 2003. 12. Copy of retirement congratulations letter to Fire Chief. 13. Letter from Firefighter Candidate thanking the commissioners for their time during the group interview. 14. Copy of letters sent to Firefighter Candidates 1-8 on the eligibility list requesting completion of background information packet. PENDING Police Officer Hiring Process—three openings (authorization to fill one vacancy at this time). Firefighter Hiring Process—three openings (not being replaced at this time). NEW BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned.
