MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING

2003 OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
AUG 2 1 HELD ON JULY 15, 2003
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were
present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, and Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, DDS.
It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the minutes of
June 17, 2003 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading
thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared
the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
The following invoices were presented for payment:
1) Police Consultants Inc. —Invoice 2869 dated 07/02/03 in the amount of$500.00
for psychological evaluation of firefighter candidate.
It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION (Closed session minutes recorded).
CORRESPONDENCE
1) Memo to Human Resources Officer advising that Police Officer has completed his
probationary period and is to he granted permanent status effective June 20, 2003.
2) Letters to two firefighter candidates advising them of their scheduled individual
oral interviews.
3) Memo from Police Officer announcing his resignation effective July 13, 2003
4) Memo from Chief Schmidt to Village Manager Parrin advising that officer's
resignation effective date is June 30, 2003.
5) Copy of Notice of Rescheduled Fire and Police Commission Regular Board
Meeting (September 16, 2003 cancelled and rescheduled for September 23, 2003
at 7:00 p.m.).

6) Copy of memo from Chief Goostree to Village Manager requesting to fill two
firefighter vacancies. Note in margin from Village Manager authorizing the
replacement of one at this time.
7) Copy of letter from IFPCA concerning Firefighter Promotional Act HB988 which
passed both houses on 5/31/03 and will be presented to Governor Blagojevich in
the near future.
PENDING
1) Police Officer Hiring Process—four openings(not being replaced at this time). Current
eligibility list effective until May 30, 2004.
2) Firefighter Hiring Process—five vacancies (one being replaced at this time). Current
eligibility list effective until December 27, 2004.

ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner
declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
