'� �I ,: Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, and Commissioner E. Butch Ehrke. It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of July 15, 2003 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1) Police Consultant, Inc. —Invoice 2885 dated 7/25/03 in the amount of$500.00 for psychological evaluation of police officer candidate. 2) Theodore Polygraph Service—Invoice 14081 dated 8/8/03 in the amount of $200.00 for polygraph evaluations for two police candidates. 3) The Clinic—Invoice dated 8/1!03 in the amount of$495.00 for pre-employment medical evaluation of firefighter candidate. It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION (Closed session minutes recorded). CORRESPONDENCE 1) Copy of letter from Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association regarding HP988 faxed to John Kelly and Dr. Mendelsohn. 2) Memo from police officer announcing his retirement effective August 22, 2003; Copy of memo from Chief Schmidt to Village Manager advising of officer's retirement. 3) Letter to police candidate advising that he failed to pass his psychological evaluation. 4) Note from police candidate advising that he is no longer interested in a police officer position. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Page Two August 19,2003 5) Letters to three police candidates advising them to schedule their polygraph examinations. 6) Letters to two police officer candidates requesting that they complete and return their background information packages. 7) Written Reprimand to police officer for violating Section 26.1.1A, Rules of Conduct, Rule 09, Inattention to Duty. 8) Written Reprimand to police ol1'icer for violating Section 26.1.IA, Rules of Conduct, Rule 09, Inattention to Duty. 9) Appointment letter to firefighter with a hire date of 9/2/03. 10)Letters to three police candidates advising them to report for their individual oral interviews on August 19, 2003,. 11)Letter to police candidate requesting that he confirm his 8/2/03 message advising us to remove his name from our eligibility list. 12)Memo from Chief Goostree recommending that probationary firefighter hired on 9/3/02 be granted permanent employee status. PENDING 1) Police Officer Hiring Process—five openings (authorization to replace one at this time). Current eligibility list effective until May 30, 2004. 2) Firefighter Hiring Process—four vacancies(no authorization to replace at this time). Current eligibility list effective until December 27, 2004. NEW BUSINESS OLD BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded Commissioner Ehrke that the meeting be adjourned.
