MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS�F6�
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON MAY 10,2005
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901
Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present:
Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of
April 19, 2005 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading
thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the
motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Daily Herald, Invoice T3519272 dated 4/19/2005 in the amount of$30.00 fopr
publication of legal notice announcing sergeant's examination.
2. Swedish Covenant Hospital, Invoice 31128523 dated 3/25/05 in the amount of$252.75
for medical evaluation of firefighter candidate.
3. Swedish Covenant Hospital, Invoice 31128225 dated 3/25/05 in the amount of$169.50
for medical evaluation of firefighter candidate.
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1) Memo to Village Clerk notifying her of 5/17/2005 meeting change to 5/10/2005.
2) E-mail to ABHS advising them to provide complete medical results for all firefighter
and police officer applicants for retention in our files.
3) Response letter to Robert Arnold.
4) Provided copies of the Perlik emails to Mayor, VM and COP.
5) Letters to three fire candidates scheduling their individual orals for 5/10/2005.
6) Memo to Chief Goostree rescheduling firefighter's final probationary review for
5/10/2005 at 8:30 p.m.
7) Letter from police candidate confirming her decision to withdraw from our process.
8) Chief Goostree provided a copy of the proposed Promotions Article in the fire contract.
9) Memo from Chief Goostree recommending permanent employee status for
probationary firefighter hired on 5/24/04.
