HELD ON SEPTEMBER 20,2005 F/C�
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901
Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present:
Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke and Commissioner Michael P. Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of
August 18, 2005 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading
thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the
motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Ottosen Trevarthen Britz Kelly & Cooper, Ltd., Invoice 14717 dated 8/31/2005 in the
amount of$92.50 for professional legal services relating to appeal hearing
2. Theodore Polygraph Service, Inc., Invoice 14908 dated 5/26/2005 in the amount of
$125.00 for polygraph examination of firefighter candidate.
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the Board
authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Memos from Chief Goostree regarding the performance of three probationary
firefighters.
2. Findings & Order relating to the 09/01/05 Suspension Appeal Hearing for Police
Officer.
3. Memo from Chief Schmidt to Police Officer assigning suspension dates for suspension
affirmed by the Commission.
4. Memos from Chief Schmidt regarding the performance of two probationary police
officers.
5. Memo from Chief Schmidt regarding the resignation of Police Officer hired on
7/6/2004. Copy of Police Officer's resignation letter also included.

OLD BUSINESS
1) None
NEW BUSINESS
1) Conducted six-month probationary reviews for two police officers hired on January 3,
2005.
PENDING
1) Police Officer Hiring Process—five vacancies; no authorization to replace at this time.
Two names remain on the current eligibility list scheduled to expire on June 1, 2006,
2) Firefighter Hiring Process—four vacancies plus one on military leave; no authorization
to replace at this time. Twenty-eight names remain on the current eligibility list
scheduled to expire on February 2, 2007.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the
motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
