HomeMy WebLinkAboutJPZ - 01/27/1982 - SIDEWALKS/AGENDA MINUTES VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE JUDICIARY, PLANNING, ZONING COMMITTEE Wednesday, January 27, 1982 The J.P.Z. Committee meeting convened at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 1982 in the Trustees Conference Room of the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue. Members Present: Petri, James - Chairman Bosslet, Joseph Hauser, Edward Members Absent: None Staff Present: Rettenbacher, Thomas - Building Commissioner Sidewalks Mr. Stanley J. Johnston, Jr. , Assistant Vice President, Commercial Department, Draper and Kramer, Inc. , submitted an application for a one lot subdivision, Lot 3 of SDK Subdivision, Unit 1. As part of his submission, he also requested a variance from the Subdivision Control Ordinance requiring construction of sidewalks along Old Higgins Road (Midway Court) . Following a review of the application and a review of the recommendation by Thomas Cech, Village Engineer, a general discussion followed on the subject of sidewalks. The requirements of Elk Grove Village, past and present, are: 1) Who uses sidewalks? and 2) What type of uses generate bigger demands for sidewalks? The Committee then agreed that the Plan Commission be asked to review the request of Draper and Kramer and submit their recommendations. Draper and Kramer should be informed of this. JPZ Agenda A general discussion was held on these items. As a result, the Building Commissioner was requested to meet with the Village Attorney In order to prepare an ordinance requiring parking for the handicapped in shopping centers, using the State of Illinois Accessibility Standards as a reference.
