REGULATION OF THE SALE OF GUNS, AMMUNITION & ALCOHOL
The Committee discussed the possibility of eliminating or
further regulating the sale of handguns in the Village.
It was noted by the Police Chief that the State regulates
firearms and air rifles differently. Firearm sales are more
stringent while air rifles can be sold to individuals over the
age of 13 .
The consensus of the Committee was to have staff survey other
communities for regulations on the sale of handguns and air
rifles .
ORGANIZATION OF ZONING ORDINANCE
The consensus of the Committee was to recommend to the
Village Board to proceed with the organization process of the
Zoning Ordinance as outlined in the Plan Commission' s Finding of
Fact dated May 19 , 1993 .
WAL-MART TENT SALE
The Committee discussed the request from Wal-Mart for a
one-month tent sale. Chairman Czarnik suggested that the sale be
less than one month, perhaps from a Friday to Sunday of the next
week.
The consensus of the Committee was to defer discussion on
this item until the Committee reviews the site plan detailing the
location of the tent. Alan Boffice indicated that Wal-Mart will
be sending a copy of the site plan for review sometime next week.
FLASHING MESSAGE BOARDS
The consensus of the Committee was as follows :
- Keep the current ordinance of prohibiting
flashing signs and message board in place; and
- have staff research the feasibility of regulating
the degree of illumination in illuminated signs .
The meeting adjourned at 9 : 37 pm.
