SALE OF FIREARMS AND AIR RIFLES
It was the consensus of the Committee to have legislation drafted
that would; (1) ban the sale of handguns, and (2) require the purchaser
of an air rifle, as defined in State statute, to be eighteen (18) years
of age.
Parental Responsibility
The Committee is desirous of strengthening existing legislation to
specifically define and identify the responsibility of parents/guardians
as pertains to knowingly providing alcoholic beverages to minors, or
reasonably believing alcoholic beverages are being or will be served to
minors in the parents' residence or other real property under their
control. Some discussion arose regarding the present fine structure for
parental violations and it will undergo further review.
Direction is to be given the Village Attorney to draft legislation
to encompass the sale of handguns, air rifles, and parental
responsibility issues.
