PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
It was the consensus of the Committee that current legislation for
the most part addresses their concerns as pertains to underage drinking
and parental responsibility. The consensus of the Committee was for new
provisions to be added to the present Ordinance as follows:
- provide for a penalty to parents if their premises are used
for consumption of an alcoholic beverage by minors;
- provide for a penalty if a minor misrepresents his/her age when
attempting to purchase alcohol; and,
- raising the minimum fine for violations from $25 to $100 for
underage possession.
The Committee agreed to discuss a comparison of Ordinance language
with that of another community with the Village Attorney and have him
prepare a draft Ordinance for their review.
The meeting adjourned at 8:57 P.M.
