The Police Chief related to the residents the Police Department's enforcement activity which has taken place within the past month in the area, in addition to praising the cooperation between the high school, the residents, and the Police Department in addressing the problem. W. Broderick related what action he and his staff are, and will continue, taking. The assembled resident audience generally acknowledged the increased police presence and the decrease in unwelcome student activity around their residences. A majority of the residents felt more restrictive and widespread parking regulations would serve to address the student loitering and tittering situation to some extent, while others favored consideration for a closed campus. It was reiterated by Chairman Lissner that this consideration would be a policy matter for the School Board, and not his Committee or the Village Board to address. The Police Chief explained to those residents present the Police Department's policy for waiver of parking enforcement and procedures to follow if a parking ticket is received referring to his letter of September 12, 1997.
