Campaign Signage Restrictions
The Meeting was called to order by Chairman Lissner at 8:10 p.m. The only agenda item
before the Committee was a possible amendment to the sign ordinance regarding election
signs. The Village Attorney advised the Committee on several Federal Appellate Court
decisions which involved time restrictions on the posting of election signs. The Appellate
Courts have held such limitations unconstitutional. Discussion followed with respect to
these decisions and the actual benefit to be derived by the Village if such restrictions were
to be imposed. The consensus of the Committee was not to amend the sign ordinance at
the present time.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
