Home My WebLink AboutFIRE PENSION - 09/08/1998 - VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE FIREFIGHTER'S PENSION FUND SEPT. 8, 1998 SPECIAL MEETING To determine the disability of F/F David Spung CALL TO ORDER A special meeting of the Elk Grove Village Firefighter's Pension Fund was called to order Sept. 8, 1998 to determine the disability of F/F David Spung. The meeting was called to order by President Patrick Beck at 2:21 PM. ROLL CALL On roll call the following members were present: Patrick Beck,Jerry Norris,Hilda Ingebrigsten,James MacArthur,Pat Smith&Rich Dugan. Absent were George Knickerbocker,Craig Johnson&Rick Kreiger. There was no attorney present. Also present was James Johnson,member,&Amanda Spung, Dave Spung's oldest daughter. A short conversation took place between Pat Beck and Amanda where Pat explained the purpose of having this meeting to decide what type of pension her dad was entitled to, and when it should start. She was asked if there were any questions she had at that point. She had no questions at that time. Jerry Norris made a motion that Dave should be granted a Occupational Disease Disability under section 5/4-110.1 of the Pension Code. Seconded by Pat Smith. Motion passed unanimously. His estate should receive a check at the end of Sept. with the normal dispersments. ADJOURNMENT Pat Smith made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Jerry Norris. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 2:47 PM. Respectfully Submitted Richard T. Dugan, Secretary Firefighter's Pension Fund In executive session the board reviewed the three doctor's statements, and two times that Dave had sustained smoke inhalation; once on Shadywood,&once at Lou Malnoti's. Due to the time constraints,the board was forced to use the doctor's that Dave already had&were treating his condition rather than getting our own doctor's which is the normal practice. After a short discussion, it was decided that Dave would be granted a Occupational Disease disability under 5/4-110.1 of the Pension. The board thought that Dr. Boyogin's report would be given the most credibility because he was Dave's doctor from the beginning, and the pension board&village have had the most dealing together.
