HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE PENSION - 11/23/1998 - MINUTES OFBOARDMEETING ELK GR FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND E$23,_l998----- A meeting of the Fireman's Pension Fund was held on Monday,Nov. 23, 1998 at the Fire Dept. Administrative Building, 901 Brantwood Ave, Elk Grove, IL. The meeting was called to order by the President Rich Dugan at T05 p.m. ROLL CALL On Roll Call the following members were present, Rich Dugan, Jerry Norris, Hilda Ingebrigtsen, James MacArthur, Rick Krieger, Pat Smith, Brian MacVeigh, Richard Puchalski, Attorney at Law, Pension Fund Legal Counsel. Absent were; George P. Knickerbocker, and Craig B. Johnson. MINUTES It was noted that Pat Smith was omitted from the September 21, 1998 minutes. Jerry Norris made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to accept them as corrected. The motion passed unanimously. TREASURE'S REPORT Treasurer Hilda Ingebrigtsen submitted a Balance Sheet,a Disbursement Register,and a Schedule of Investments as of Sept 30, 1998. She reviewed all three with the board members and explained their content. Pat Smith motioned to accept the treasurer's report, Brian MacVeigh seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS The Illinois Department of Insurance has not accepted our check for compliance fees. Richard Puchalski stated that everybody should have received a letter as of Nov 3, 1998. The letter stated that everything is on hold until the courts make a decision as to whether the Illinois Department of Insurance can access our accounts directly or whether they must accept our check as payment. Rich Dugan stated that our annual fee has gone from$125.00 to$2337.00. Puchalski also stated a lawsuit was filed on behalf of 19 pension boards but the Assistant Attorney General stated that the lawsuit would only apply to these 19 pension boards. About 84, other pension boards were notified and they filed a motion to intervene in the lawsuit. The court then stated that the status quo would be maintained until the legal issues were resolved. NEW BUSINESS Five new members have applied to become pension members. Todd A. Rishling did not have his paperwork completed so he will have to wait until the next meeting to be voted on.
