October 9, 1996 Meeting Minutes
1) The first meeting of the EGVFD Foreign Fire Tax Board started @ 7:OOpm
at the fire administration building, with 9 members present.

2) The meeting started with John Forde giving a history of the past few year's
of how a foreign fire tax committee initially started. Thru much hard work an
ordinance was drafted and finally approved to lead to the point where an
officially elected committee was formed.
3) Election's with-in the committee for chairman, co-chairman & secretary
where held. Hilda Ingebrigtsen is the treasurer per the ordinance.
Nomination's for chairman where John Forde & Rich Keyworth, co-chairman,
Bob Stecki, secretary, Scott Peterson. A ballot took place with John Forde
being elected chairman (7 votes), Rich Keyworth receiving 2. Bob Stecki as
co-chairman & Scott Peterson as secretary due to being unopposed.
Next names where picked "from a hat" for a 1 year term & 2 year term, per
the ordinance.

4) It was asked how much money the committee has. Hilda stated as of
September 20, 1996 there is $370,733.21, plus unknown interest. This is
what has been saved since fiscal year 1991. Prior to this the money was
absorbed into the general fund.
5) The committee than discussed how to survey the firefighters as to how they
would like the money spent. It was decided that a print survey would be put
out to all shift personal asking for their names & ideas, with the survey due
back by October 20, 1996. John Forde stated he will put together the survey,
send out and collect. Members of the foreign fire tax board are to contact any
shift people that are off on furlough, sick leave or detailed to paramedic
school.
6) Finally, the scheduling of meeting's was done. It was decided for now that
the board will meet bi-weekly every Wednesday for the next few month's do
to the budget having to be in soon. Meeting's will be held at the fire
administration building, 901 Brantwood at 7pm. Attached is the dates of the
meeting's that was sent to all station's, fire administration, and the village
clerk for posting on the board at village hall.
7) No further business and the meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
