Foreign Fire Tax Board was held on January 22, 1997 in the Fire Dept. Administrative Offices, 901 Brantwood Ave.. The meeting was called to order by President John Forde at 7:06pm. Roll Call Present Absent Jim MacArthur Pat Beck John Forde Mike Rogers Al Mergens Scott Peterson Rich Keywords Peter Gutzmer Bob Stecki Randy Schlottman Rick Krieger Hilda Ingebrigtsen Minutes Scott Peterson , Secretary, was absent so no minutes were read. Treasures's Report Treasurer, Hilda Ingebrigtsen, stated that nothing in our account had changed since the last meeting except for interest that would be added to the next report. Old Business January 13, 1997 John Forde and Chief MacArthur met with the Village Manager Gary Partin to discuss our proposed 1997-1998 budget. Both stated that the meeting with the Manager went very well and agreed that the out come was quite positive. Most of the questions that Mr. Parrin had were points that he wanted clarified so that he could explain the need for a particular item to the Village Board. He questioned the amount of money budgeted for TV sets until it was explained that this money also included TV stands. The amount budgeted for TV's was then left the same. His next question was with the work-out equipment. Mr. Parrin agreed to the aerobic equipment but stated that he would like to see a fitness program in place before allowing weights or weight machines in the fire house. He stated that he thought it would be better to have fitness coordinators in place first to help reduce the possibility of injuries. The Professional Services budget was cut from $5000.00 to $2000.00, the reasoning given was that having a personal trainer in the fire house before having a fitness program might not be appropriate, a fitness program needs to be negotiated through the union and the Village before being implemented. Every other item on the budget was accepted as is. New Business John Forde stated that he would put a letter out to the firefighters to bring them up to speed on what we have done as a board as of this date. There was a discussion about developing policies and a policy manual . Chief MacArthur said that we might consider creating a policy for items that cross over into the Fire Dept. budget. ie. Doug Goostree had items on both the Fire Dept. budget and the Foreign Fire Tax budget. It was stated that maybe an item that is being considered on the Fire budget should remain there for a minimum of two years before being considered on the Foreign Fire Tax budget. These thoughts were tabled for more discussion at a later date. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for February 19, 1997 at 7:OOpm. Respectfully Submitted Richard A. Krieger, Acting Secretary Foreign Fire Tax Board
