Minutes Village of Elk Grove Village Board of Health January 3, 1989 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:40 p.m. in meeting room C of the Village Hall. Board Members Present Board Members Absent Patrick Briggs Pat McHale, Chairman Dave Dopp Pat Bourke Dr. Kelly Ray DePalma Dr. Labinsky Ray Dean Jim Rubly Staff Members Present Nancy Yiannias Mike Cavallini The minutes of the November 1, 1988, Board of Health meeting were approved. I. Old Business A. Senior Impact Study The last draft of the addendum to the Impact Study was reviewed by the Board Members. They felt some explanation of the Diagnostic Related Groups as they relate to early hospital release of patients should be placed somewhere in the report. It should also explain how this has effected the frail elderly. Dave Dopp moved that the report should be accepted as final with the above revision. The motion was recorded and approved unanimously. The report will be distributed to the Village Board, key Village staff, and a few outside agencies. B. Suburban Primary Health Care The program has been initiated but is experiencing problems get- ting physicians recruited in the Northwest suburbs. The intake office is at Elk Grove Township. Dr. Labinsky offered his help in trying to recruit physicians. C. Recycling Program The program has been very well received by the community with only a few objections. The Health Department has received about 600 calls and most have been for further information and lost bins. Mr. Cavallini will be working on a plan for multi-family homes. This will be presented at a meeting of the recycling committee on January 18, 1989. 2 - D. Balefill Update The Solid Waste Agency is having a problem acquiring an EPA permit for the balefill. EPA is reviewing their decision. Things are still unsettled. E. Budget 1989-90 No major changes have been put in the budget. We will be asking for more part-time help for the fall months to help make nuisance inspections. II. Routine Reports A. Coordinator's Report Blood Program The next community blood drive will be held on January 28, 1989. Immunization Program 68 children received 105 shots at the November and December clinics. The same schedule for clinics will be followed for 1989 (third Tuesday of each month) . Flu Clinic 269 flu shots were given at the four Elk Grove Village clinics. The clinic will be held again in the Fall of 1989. Manor Care Nursing Home has submitted its plans for approval and should be building soon. A Subway Sandwich Shop is opening in Strawberry Hill Plaza. Gramma's Deli is expanding their facilities in the same shopping center.
