OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON SEPTEMBER 20,2016
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the
following members were present: Chairman E. Butch Ehrke and Commissioner Stephen
Scholten. Guests and staff present: Police Chief Stephen Schmidt, Michelle Jin, and Lauren
Linares.
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke moved that the minutes of the August 23, 2016 meeting be
approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. Commissioner
Scholten seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke
declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Ottosen Britz Kelly et al Invoice 083116 dated 08/31/16 in the amount of$260.00 for
professional services relating to probationary extension, appeal hearing and appeal
notice.
2. Theodore Polygraph Service Invoice 5359 dated 8/26/2016 in the amount of$600.00
for polygraph examinations for four police officer candidates (PC55, PC58, PC59,
PC60).
3. Stanard&Associates Invoice SA000032300 dated 8/31/16 in the amount of$1975.00
for personality evaluations for one firefighter candidate and four police officer
candidates (FC16, PC50, PC52, PC54,PC55).
Chairman Ehrke moved that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment.
Secretary Kontek seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Ehrke declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Email to PO Amy Petrouski advising that her probationary period has been extended
and her scheduled final probationary review will take place on October 18, 2016.
2. Notice of Appeal Hearing for Officer Daniel Johnson. Hearing originally scheduled
for August 23, 2016 was cancelled and rescheduled to take place on September 12,
2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
3. Notice of Suspension dated 9/6/2016 to Police Officer for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 46 (Failure to operate Village vehicles in a safe and prudent manner or
to obey related traffic laws). Police Officer has been suspended for two days to be
served on August 29 and 30, 2016.

4. Notice of Suspension dated 9/6/2016 to Police Officer for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 49 (Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled). Police
Officer has been suspended for one day to be served on September 14, 2016.
5. Memo dated 9/12/16 from Chief Schmidt regarding the performance of Probationary
Police Officer Roger Hendrickson.
6. Appointment letters for five police officers scheduled to report for work on 09/26/16:
Douglas Wells, Justin Wolfe, Julie Creviston, Colin Haney and Joseph Micholson.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussed police officer hiring process.
2. Discussed firefighter hiring process.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussed candidate status and current registration count for police officer written
examination.
ELIGIBILITY LIST
1. Firefighter—Eligibility list containing 109 names will expire on 09/14/2017.
2. Fire Lieutenant—Nine names appear on the eligibility list scheduled to expire on
11/09/2017.
3. Police Officer—The amended list dated 6/21/2016 has five names remaining and is
scheduled to expire on 12/27/2016.
4. Police Sergeant—Four names remain on the list scheduled to expire on 07/07/2018.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Scholten that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke declared
the motion carried. Meeting adjourned 6:15 p.m.
