AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3-19-4,3-19-10 AND 3-1-6 OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE PERTAINING TO
ALARM LICENSE FEES AND ALARM LICENSE FINES
WHEREAS,the Village of Elk Grove Village currently licenses alarm systems on a
graded scale based on the number of false alarms in the preceding year; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is implementing a new alarm license
management computer program which will not be able to manage changing license fees on a
sliding scale; and
WHEREAS,the Police Department has determined that the fines in place for having
false alarms is a sufficient deterrent and therefor the sliding scale system is unnecessary; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has also determined that the current sliding scale
system for residential alarm systems can be eliminated as only one residential user pays a fee
based on multiple violations.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage as follows:
Section 1: That Section 3-19-4 LICENSE FEE of Chapter 19 Alarm Systems of the
Village Code be amended to read as follows:
3-19-4 LICENSE FEE:
The annual fee for an alarm user's license shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
Section 2: That Section 3-1-6 LICENSE FEES of the Village Code be amended with
respect to alarm systems fees to read as follows:
TYPE OF BUSINESS ANNUAL FEE
Alarm Systems (Chapter 3-19): $25.00
Section 3: That Section 3-19-10: FINES: be amended to read as follows:
A. Additional Charges: Any alarm site which has more than three (3) false alarms
within a licensed year shall subject the alarm user licensee to additional charges as
follows:

The above charges shall be paid to the village within thirty(30) days from the
invoice date requesting said additional charges.
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval according to law.
