HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 10/18/2016 - Fire & Police Commission Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON OCTOBER 18,2016 Chairman E. Butch Ehrke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman E. Butch Ehrke and Commissioner Stephen Scholten. Guests and staff present: Police Chief Stephen Schmidt, Michelle Jin, and Lauren Linares. Chairman E. Butch Ehrke moved that the minutes of the September 20, 2016 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. Commissioner Scholten seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. Invoice SA032426 dated 9/29/16 from Stanard& Associates in the amount of$790.00 for two personality evaluations for entry level police officers (PC59 and PC60). 2. Invoice 626057 dated 9/26/16 from Advocate Occupational Health in the amount of $956.00 for two medical evaluations for entry level police officers (PC50 & PC51). 3. Invoice 627763 dated 10/06/16 from Advocate Occupational Health in the amount of $478.00 for medical evaluation for entry level police candidate (PC55). 4. Invoice 627844 dated 10/06/16 from Advocate Occupational Health in the amount of $478.00 for medical evaluation for entry level police candidate (PC54). 5. Invoice 627862 dated 10/06/16 from Advocate Occupational Health in the amount of $478.00 for medical evaluation for entry level police candidate (PC59). 6. Invoice dated 09/30/16 from Ottosen Britz Kelly Cooper et al in the amount of $297.00 for court reporting services on 09/12/16 for the scheduled appeal hearing. Chairman Ehrke moved that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. Commissioner Scholten seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke declared the motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Email to Chief Schmidt requesting comments/constructive criticism for the final probationary review for Police Officer Amy Petrouski. 2. Revised Notice of Suspension dated 09/21/2016 issued to Police Officer. Officer violated Rules and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1 A, Rules of Conduct, Rule 05 (Failure to Perform a Duty). 3. Resignation letter from Police Officer Candidate Colin Haney effective 09/29/16. Minutes of the Regular Meeting October 18,2016 Page 1 of 2 4. Resignation letter from Police Officer Amy Petrouski effective 09/30/16. OLD BUSINESS 1. Discussed police officer hiring process. NEW BUSINESS 1. Discussed candidate status and current registration count for police officer written examination. ELIGIBILITY LIST 1. Firefighter—Eligibility list containing 109 names will expire on 09/14/2017. 2. Fire Lieutenant—Nine names appear on the eligibility list scheduled to expire on 11/09/2017. 3. Police Officer—The amended list dated 6/21/2016 has five names remaining and is scheduled to expire on 12/27/2016. 4. Police Sergeant—Four names remain on the list scheduled to expire on 07/07/2018. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Chairman Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Scholten that the meeting be adjourned.
