HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF HEALTH - 04/06/1989 - Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health April 6, 1989 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:30 p.m. , by Pat Bourke, Temporary Chairman, in meeting room C of the Village Hall . Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat Bourke Pat McHale, Chairman Patrick Briggs Ray De Palma Ray Dean Dave Dopp Staff Members Present Dr. Kelly Nancy Yiannias Dr. Labinsky Jim Rubly The minutes of the February 7, 1989 meeting were approved. There was no March meeting due to lack of a quorum. I . Old Business A. Senior Impact Study The trustees have received a copy of the Senior Impact Study. They have not responded to date but we expect a response shortly. The Health Department will collect data from surrounding municipalities regarding their use of a community health nurse, and will be prepared to respond to that question if asked by the trustees. B. Recycling Program Update The Village has received a $7,000 award grant. We asked for $16,000+ for a single-family attached recycling program. We feel fortunate that we were awarded $7,000 (which will cover the cost of the bins for this phase of our total recycling program) , since only 38% of the requests were awarded grants. The next phase of the program will be a multi-family program. We will be applying for a large grant in June to cover the program' s financial needs. C. Suburban Primary Health Care Update "Access to Care" is having problems signing up physicians in the Northwest suburbs. They had a "hold harmless" clause in their agreement which was not acceptable to physicians. This has since been removed. Dr. Rittman and one pediatrician have been signed up for this area. "Health Works" will endorse the program but not for the entire organization. Publicity material is now available. II . Routine Reports 2 — A. Coordinator' s Report -_ 34 Children were given 54 shots at the March 21st Immunization Clinic. -- Monies for the new part-time employee will be available on May 1st. The position has not been posted to date. It will pay $10.33 per hour at 25 hours per week. -- 43 persons were given TB Mantoux - 2 were positive. New Business A. Cook County Community Development Block Grant The Health Department may be applying for a Block Grant for single-family home rehab.
