f Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health May 2, 1989 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 8:25 p.m. by Pat Bourke, Temporary Chairman, in meeting room C of the Village Hall . Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat Bourke Patrick Briggs Pat McHale, Chairman Dr. Labinsky Ray Dean Ray DePalma Staff Present Dave Dopp Dr. Kelly Nancy Yiannias Jim Rubly The minutes of April 6, 1989, were approved. I . Old Business A. Senior Impact Study The Board reviewed the jab descriptions for community nurses from Schaumburg. A description will be written for review at the June meeting. B. Recycling Update The grant check will be sent to the Village at the end of May. 10% will be withheld until the end of the grant' s fiscal year. The single-family attached recycling program will probably begin this summer. C. "Access to Care" The program is able to serve a capacity of 900. There are currently 3 physicians in this area. Utilization is still low. The agency is trying to interest the "Health Works" group from ABMC in having their physicians participate in the "Access" program. Elk Grove Township funded $22,500 to the program. The South section has only one physician signed up in the program. They are far behind us in implementation. II. Routine Reports A. Coordinator' s Report -- Immunization Clinic 42 children were given 74 shots at the April 18th Clinic. Hib vaccine is still not available through the State Health Department. -- New Position Y The inspector' s position should be filled by late May. -- Cook County Community Block Grant The Village currently has no fair housing plan, thus preventing us from applying for CCCB Grants. -- 911 911 is scheduled to be operational in 1991, however, payments for the service will begin in July 1989. The Board of Health discussed the time lapse between payments and operation and felt residents should be informed of this time lapse. It could cause dangerous situations if residents think they have the service and don' t. The Board of Health wants a letter to be written to the Trustees cautioning them of this problem.
