BOARD OF HEALTH - 11/07/1989 -
Minutes / Village of Elk Grove Board of Health November 7, 1989 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:45 p.m. , by Pat McHale, Chairman, in Meeting Room C of the Village Hall. Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat McHale, Chairman Pat Bourke Ray Dean Pat Briggs Dave Dopp Ray De Palma Dr. Kelly Dr. Labinsky Jim Rubly Staff Present Nancy Ylannias Guest Steve Curatti The minutes of the October 3, 1989, meeting were approved. I. Old Business A. Senior Impact Study Pat McHale spoke with Mr. Zettek regarding the hiring of a nurse in the Health Department. Mr. Zettek advised her to speak with Mr. Willis on the subject. Pat McHale 6 Pat Bourke met with Mr. Willis. He suggested that the justification for a nurse be placed in the 1990-91 Budget packet so a decision can be made by the Village Board at that time. B. Recycling Program - Leaf Program Update A pilot street leaf collection program was implemented this Fall. If it is found to be successful, it may be adopted Village wide. A letter of intent for a Recycling Grant is being submitted to the Chicago Community Trust. Hopefully, the Village will be eligible for a grant. C. Access to Care Update. 800 clients have signed up for the Access to Care Program in the Northwest suburbs. Reassessment was to be done every sir: months. This period will probably change to annual reassessment. The Spanish- speaking population are not reapplying, probably because of miscommunication. The program's now accepting the underinsured, as well as the uninsured. The program is progressing successfully. D. Inspector's Job Description The proposed job description was discussed by the Board: The Sanitarian's job has become involved in activities such as recycling and solid waste. This, coupled with an increase in restaurants and other facilities needing inspections by the Sanitarian, makes it necessary to change the job description of the Health Inspector to include some inspections done currently by the Sanitarian. The new job description. should be "Associate" Sanitarian so these new duties could be included. Dave Dopp moved that the new job description be titled Associate Sanitarian and include some duties currently handled only by the Sanitarian. It was seconded by Dr. Kelly. It was passed unanimously by the Board of Health. II. Routine Reports A. Coordinator's Report Immunization Clinic 35 children were given 59 shots at the October 17 Clinic.
