HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF HEALTH - 01/02/1990 - Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health January 2, 1990 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:35 p.m. , by Pat McHale, Chairman, in Meeting Room C of the Village Hall . Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat McHale, Chairman Pat Bourke Pat Briggs Ray Dean Ray De Palma Dr. Labinsky Dave Dopp Dr. Kelly Jim Rubly Staff Members Present Nancy Yiannias Mike Cavallini The minutes of the December 5, 1989, meeting were approved. I. Old Business A. Nursing position request The Board reviewed the funding request justification for this position and gave approval . B. Sanitarian position request The Board reviewed the funding request and justification for this position and gave approval . C. Access to Care The agency has had a problem with Mexican migrants. They must enroll for the program every six months. This period has been extended to 12 months. However, the migrants go back to Mexico for the winter. They must be re-recruited when they return in the Spring. Because of this situation the enrollment has decreased but will pick up again in the Spring. A Summit meeting with the State of Illinois is being held to discuss the problems of the medically indigent. It will be held on 01-11-90 at 6:30 at the Township Hall . This is the first time such a meeting is being held in the Northwest suburbs. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss problems and solutions of the medically indigent in the State. D. Recycling - Yard Waste Update Garden City has submitted a proposal for yard waste, including grass, leaves and brush. The proposal is being submitted to the Recycling Committee for review. Plans for a multi-family recycling program will also be discussed by the Recycling Committee. II. Routine Reports A. Coordinator's Report -- 31 children were given 45 shots at the 12/19/89 Clinic. -- 714 flu shots were given to Elk Grove Village and Schaumburg residents this Fall . This number increases yearly and will be expanded in the Fall of 1990.
