BOARD OF HEALTH - 02/06/1990 -
Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health February 6, 1990 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:45 p.m. , by Pat McHale, Chairman, in Meeting Room C of the Village Hall. Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat McHale, Chairman Pat Briggs Pat Bourke Ray Dean Ray De Palma Dr. Labinsky Dave Dopp Dr. Kelly Jim Rubly Staff Members Present Nancy Yiannias Mike Cavellini The minutes of the January 2, 1990, meeting were approved. I. Old Business A. Access to Care Update Pat Bourke and Pat McHale gave a presentation to the Cook County Board because May McDonald wanted to include the Access to Care Program in the County budget. The program became a political footbase, and McDonald retracted her support because Stanley Cusper announced his support to the program. Access is still in need of physicians, but the program is coming along. B. Recycling and Yard Waste Update The Recycling Committee has not made any firm decisions regarding how the Village will be handling yard waste and grass clippings. There are several alternatives such as the use of cannisters, bags(paper) , the use of mulching lawn mowers and backyard composting. Hopefully, a decision on the Village's program will be made in the very near future. C. 1990-91 Budget The proposed budget is requesting a full-time sanitarian and a full-time nurse. The Housing/Health inspector and the part-time inspector have been eliminated from the department and will be replaced by the sanitarian. This means request is for $213,000 as opposed to last year's $169,000. Administrative hearings will be held this week, and Village Board hearings will be held in March. Board of Health members are urged to come to the Village Board hearings to show their support of this year's budget request.
