Sanitarian's Report 821 inspections were made in June, July & August (details above) . The Board of Health would like to promote restaurants having high scores on inspections. Perhaps they could be written up in the Village Newsletter or a local paper. The Health Depart- ment had a "certificate" program several years ago but didn't "advertise" it. This will be discussed at the next meeting. - 3 - III. New Business A. Codification Changes in the code book have been made and submitted to the Village Clerk. Changes will be brought back to the Board for final review. B. Lyme Disease It has been rumored that there have been cases of Lyme Disease amongst forest rangers from the Cook County Forest Preserves. The Health Department will check with Cook County Department of Public Health (Dr. Cordell) to check on this rumor. C. Open Dumpsters Some Board of Health members have seen open dumpsters in apartment complexes and commercial areas. They would like the Health Department to check out this situation. D. Toxic Materials Dave Dopp questioned the Health Department about toxic substances in the workplaces of the Village. The Health Department informed him that the "Right to Know" Act went into effect several years ago. Employers must inform their employees if any toxic substances they make come into contact with them on the job. They also must have material data sheets on these substances. The Fire Department keeps records of toxic substances in the industrial park. They have firemen specially trained in their area of toxic substances. The Board of Health would like one of them to come to a future meeting to discuss this topic. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Nancy Yiannias Health Coordinator
