OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 15,2016
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the
following members were present: Chairman E. Butch Ehrke, Secretary Michael Kontek and
Commissioner Stephen Scholten. Guests and staff present: Police Chief Stephen Schmidt,
Police Deputy Chief Walsh, Police Deputy Chief Gaspari, Michelle Jin, Lauren Linares, and
Debbie Weber.
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke moved that the minutes of the October 18, 2016 meeting be
approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. Commissioner
Scholten seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Secretary
Michael Kontek declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
None.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Advancement of PC60 to medical exam. Candidate will have to pass the Power Test
on 12/27/2016 with the option to re-take if unsuccessful on 1/3/2016. Upon passing,
the candidate will then attend the Police Academy on 1/9/2016.
2. Memo to Fire Chief regarding notification of Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process,
which will commence in November 2017.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussed sequencing of the police officer hiring process.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussed Police Testing Day (Orientation and Written Exam).
2. The Police Department introduced the idea of additional evaluations during the police
hiring process. Details to be discussed further with the Mayor and Village Manager.
3. Discussed availability dates for Police group interviews (MIAs).
4. Discussed medical results for PC60. Confirmed Appointment and Power Test dates to
enter the Academy.

ELIGIBILITY LIST
1. Firefighter—Eligibility list containing 109 names will expire on 09/14/2017.
2. Fire Lieutenant—Nine names appear on the eligibility list scheduled to expire on
11/09/2017.
3. Police Officer—The amended list dated 6/21/2016 has five names remaining and is
scheduled to expire on 12/27/2016.
4. Police Sergeant—Four names remain on the list scheduled to expire on 07/07/2018.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Ehrke and seconded Commissioner Scholten that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke declared
the motion carried. Meeting adjourned 6:15 p.m.
