BOARD OF HEALTH - 08/06/1991 -
ti i. r Minutes Village of Elk Grove Board of Health August 6, 1991 The regular meeting of the Elk Grove Village Board of Health was called to order at 7:40 p.m. , by Pat Bourke, Chairman Pro Tem, in Meeting Room C of the Village Hall. Board Members Present Board Members Absent Pat Bourke Pat,Mc Hale, Chairman Pat Briggs Ray Dean Ray De Palma Dr. Labinsky Dave Dopp Jim Rubly Dr. Kelly Staff Present Nancy Yiannias, Health Coordinator Barbara Dumont, Community Nurse Minutes of the June 4, 1991, meeting were approved. There was no July meeting due to a lack of a quorum. I. Old Business A. Community Nurse Barbara Dumont, Community Nurse, gave an overview of her activities her first few weeks on the job. She discussed the contacts she has made in the community as well as contacts made within the organization. She will be working on a reporting mechanism as soon as she determines specific activities. This will probably take another month or two. Barbara feels very well accepted both by the community and the Village employees and feels the job is very self gratifying. B. Recycling Update All but three complexes are recycling. Two are awaiting roll-off bins to be delivered (Eagles & Regency Square) and one (Hamilton Court) is waiting for 2 yarders to be ordered. Proceeds from profits have been received from Hillside Disposal from Boardwalk's recycling for the month of May. we have not received reports from the recycling scavengers to date because the programs have not been in effect long enough to tell what the participation has been. II. Routine Reports A. Coordinator's Report Immunization Clinic - 2 35 children were given 77 shots at the July 16, 1991, clinic. The last clinic to be held at Alexian Brothers Medical Center is August, because we will be having mass clinics starting on August 28th. Clinics will be held at the Elk Grove Village Court Room on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The reason for the change is because we have been servicing very small numbers of children and the parking situation at the hospital has been difficult with the current construction. The mass clinics will be a greater service to residents. The effort is sponsored by Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg, Arlington Heights Health Departments, Cook County Department of Public Health and Alexian Brothers Medical Center. In order to make this a self-sustaining program, we would like to attach a $2.00 fee per shot, however, no one will be turned away if they are unable to pay. Pat Bourke moved that the $2.00 per injection be charged pending the approval of Schaumburg Health Department, with the stipulation that no one would be turned away if they could not pay. The motion was seconded by Pat Briggs and was unanimously approved. Day Care Pat Bourke brought up the subject of an in-home day care number that was available through the Day Care Action Council Resource Referral Service. This number will be obtained by the Health Department and passed on to Community Services for their referral list. B.
