The Board of Health reviewed, discussed and approved the 1992-93
budget as submitted to them by the Health Department. The Health
Department is asking for a clerk. The volume of clerical work has
escalated to the point that more clerical help is critically needed.
The budget will be submitted to Finance and the Manager's Office before
going to the Village Board. Board of Health members will be notified
of the date and time the Village Board will be having the hearing for
the Health Department Budget.
I . Old Business
A. Flu Clinics
The Health Department will follow the same basic schedule
for flu clinics in 1992. 1,200 doses will be ordered so we
will not run out of vaccine as we did this year. There was
no way to anticipate the tremendous volume we experienced in
1991.
B. Immunization Clinic
148 shots were given to 65 children at the December 18, 1991,
Immunization Clinic. The 1992 schedule for immunization will
continue to be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month
except for November & December. Because of Thanksgiving &
Christmas, the clinics will be held on the third Wednesday
on both of those months.
C. Excessive Reinspection Proposed Ordinance
A copy of this ordinance was reviewed by the Board of
Health. The Board of Health moved that the Proposed
Ordinance be accepted. The motion was approved unanimously.
The proposed ordinance will be forwarded to the manager's
office, then to the Village Board for discussion and
possible approval .

Nurse's Report
Monthly Highlights
1. A resident was identified as hypertensive, currently taking
medication. During the first 3 visits I strongly recommended he see
his physician. This was based on his continued elevated blood pressure
and multiple clinical symptoms. The patient was admitted to Alexian
Brothers with a diagnosis of bronchial pneumonia, which was treated.
He also had medication adjustments related to his uncontrolled
hypertension. He continues to have his blood pressure monitored with
additional patient education on behavior modification, stop smoking and
diet teaching.
2. As of January 1992, 1 became a clinical preceptor for 2 Northern
Illinois University students enrolled in the BSN completion course -
Community Nursing. These students will do home visits and provide
patient education to selected community groups. The current project
will be "Taking Care of Your Tooties", presented to the Al Hattendorf
Senior Center. The students will be present with me twice a week, four
hours a day, through April .
3. I was a presentor at Alexian Brothers Medical Center's Grand
Nursing Rounds. The case reviewed centered on early discharge planning
that included, SNF placement, HHC, the community nurse and Hospice
care. 20 people of multi-disciplinary background were among the
hospital staff attending.
4. I exhibited at the First Annual Community Fair on January 19,
1992. A poster presentation was done to provide those attending with
general health information and population statistics of village
residents. Many people stopped to talk with me and 2 residents were
identified as needing specific health information referral and home
care.
