She is making a concerted effort to get feedback from residents about the facilities and programs of the Park District. The Board of Health was pleased to meet with Ms. Heller and become better informed about the workings of the Park District. 2) The Board of Health expressed concern about summer sports activities. Because of the heat emergencies that have prevailed over the summer, the possibility of heat exhaustion has become a real health threat when people do strenuous physical activities. The Board drafted suggested guidelines to be followed by coaches and other sports leaders to guard the health and safety of children involved in such activities. 3) David Dopp moved that the Board of Health follow the recommendations of the Chicago Board of Health Regulations regarding heat emergencies. Bart Dill seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously. 4) Minutes of the June 21, 1995 meeting were approved. 5) Update on Community Health Alliance. Neighborhood watches have also been initiated by the nurse. New Vaccine information sheets have streamlined the clinic process. The room now used is carpeted and has helped the noise level. The nurse is now reciprocating her time by working at the Arlington Heights Clinic once a month. As Chairperson of the RIC/ABMC Rehab Patient Advisory Committee, the nurse will be involved with a "Physical Rehab Fall Festival" on 9/21/95 from 4-8 p.m. The purpose is to promote the community's awareness of the Center. The Health Education Committee at ABMC will be holding a multi-cultural health fair in the Spring. Day care inspections have been nearly completed for licensing. Generally, the providers are doing well in providing safe environments for the children. A 20th Anniversary party was held at the Grove Senior Apartments. The median age is 82. The nurse spends a great deal of time with this aging population because many will need assisted living arrangements, which includes much family involvement. The summer Blood Drive was low in numbers. Hopefully this can be increased by innovative ideas. 9) Dr. Boyajian would like one month of a detailed report (June '95) to see specifically the nurse's activities. 10) The Board of Health would like information on the Access to Care Program. They would also like an article on lead poisoning in children in a future newsletter. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Nancy Yiannias Health Coordinator cc: President and Board of Trustees Village Manager Assistant Village Manager Administrative Assistant Village Attorney Village Clerk
